Virtual Reality: The future of science education and inspiration
Faculty: Dr. Alexandra Hain
This weeklong training program is designed to help teachers integrate naval engineering concepts into virtual reality (VR) experiences. Participants will use industry-leading tools, such as SketchUp, Oculus, and Unity, to gain a thorough understanding of 3D modeling and VR development. The course will cover the fundamentals of 3D modeling, VR development, and naval engineering concepts. Through hands-on activities and real-world applications, participants will gain a firm grasp of the topics covered. This program will also provide teachers with the opportunity to collaborate with peers to develop innovative and immersive VR experiences which engage students in naval engineering. By the end of the week, teachers will have the skills and knowledge necessary to integrate naval engineering concepts into their classroom curriculum.
Fellowships available: This workshop will be able to support twelve (12) teachers (up to $600 per participant will be covered by Navy STEM grant funds).
This workshop is highly recommended for Physics, Computer Science, Math, and General Science teachers.
