For those of you who are not familiar, Tools Clues is a session that we host during the MYO conference where we invite women in the industry or graduate students to speak with the participants and describe what their job entails, and then the participants guess what the presenters job role or job field is based off the given clues. As a Tools Clues volunteer, your job will be to help explain the rules of the session to the students, facilitate the session (encouraging the students to guess/participate and this can include filling in gaps of silence), and make sure that everything is going according to schedule. 

Day of Reminders:

• Arrive 5-10 minutes early
• Upon signing onto the Zoom call, rename yourself to V_FirstName Last Name(pronouns). Ex: V_Randi Mendes(she/her).
• There will be a networking session with our Tools Clues presenters from 2 -3 PM

We cannot emphasize enough that it is the responsibility of the volunteers to facilitate conversation and guesses between the students(8th graders) and the presenters. While we have a timeline for you to follow below, be prepared for things to take longer or shorter than planned and adjust accordingly! Below I am providing possible questions that can be asked but please take a moment to review your assigned presenters and their bios prior to your session. 

Possible questions that can be asked:

1. Did you know that you wanted to be an engineer right away? Or What made you want to become an engineer?
2. Were you ever discouraged through your journey and how did you overcome that?
3. What was your experience as a woman in engineering (academia and career)?
4. What made you decide to go to graduate school (if applicable)?
5. What is some advice you wish you had when you were starting your engineering program?
6. What would you say is the best part about being an engineer?
