Lara Chiaverini, Director of Inclusive Excellence in STEM Teaching and Learning

Lara is co-appointed between CETL and the Vergnano Institute for Inclusion (VII) in the College of Engineering. In her role at CETL, she focuses on faculty development through Learning Communities and the co-creation of meaningful evaluation of effective and inclusive practices. In her role at VII, she leads the Inclusive Excellence Program for Justice, Equity and Transformation (JET), and supports faculty in diversity or broadening participation efforts.  

Lara earned her undergraduate degree in English from UConn in 1999. Prior to working at UConn, Lara spent 16 years in the non profit sector in roles including grant writer, program manager, and development director. For the past seven years, Lara served as fiscal officer in the Computer Science & Engineering Department. The partnerships she developed with both VII and CETL during that time led to the creation of this position.
