Lara Chiaverini’s role supports staff and faculty through learning and action-oriented initiatives that advance equity, inclusion, and community across the College of Engineering and beyond. This work emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion in the STEM fields through innovative, evidence-based strategies that drive a commitment to centering equity in all learning and working spaces.

In this role, Lara supports faculty and staff in developing grant proposals with strong components around broadening participation in STEM, inclusive mentoring, and community impact. Her collaborative approach helps ensure that proposals reflect UConn’s commitment to meaningful, systemic change.

Lara also facilitates learning communities for both faculty and staff, fostering cross-campus dialogue and shared growth around inclusive teaching practices, mentorship, and sense of belonging. She works alongside staff and educators to embed inclusive principles and practices into course design and student engagement.

As a community builder, Lara is the creator and convener of programs and gatherings that offer space for faculty and staff to connect, collaborate, and cultivate a sense of belonging. Her work is grounded in the belief that inclusion is not just a value—but a daily practice that strengthens the entire UConn community.
